I’m American and my gf is Thai- can I “fix” her to my Japan Student Visa so she not have to apply solely?
We will be getting married under Thai law in a few months, I’ll be studying at an American university in Japan in Jan ’09 for 6 months. I’ve heard Japanese tourist visas are near impossible for young Thais, can I attach her somehow to my Japanese visa to show she’s accompanying me?

Only if you both are married, she can apply for a “dependent visa” because you are in Japan. You cannot get a dependent visa for her as a fiance or boyfriend. So once you get married you’ll have to go through the process of getting her a dependent visa, however you’ll also need to be in possession of a student visa at the time, so you might need to wait until after you have your student visa. Are you going to TUJ? I thought TUJ requires students to stay on their dormitories for the first semester, I could be wrong on that matter.
