Thai Visa – I am Australian and desire to visit Thailand for more than 30 days?
I am going to Thailand and want to know if I should get a visa – I want to stay for about 3 months (or more) I know you can leave and return for 30 day periods (90 days max within 6 months) but I will find this inconvenient and it will probably be more costly than getting a visa – What type of visa should I get and how much will it cost – ??Thx

Apply for a 90days tourist visa single entry, in germany it costs 50Euros.If you want to leave in between you need to apply for a re entry permit at any immigration which will cost you another 1900THB

To to the Thai Embassy and apply for the visa. Pretty simple actually.Use this link to find one near you to avoid the hassle:

There’s a number of options that have already been stated of applying for visas before arriving in Thailand, the downside to that is that you will be tied to Thailand.
Other options:- If you want to stay in Thailand there are a number of companies doing a ‘visa run’ to get your passport stamped out and back in again at the Cambodian, Lao, Burmese borders.
Alternatively why not do just that, head over the border and visit Cambodia/Laos/Burma for a few days and visit a couple of other countries for a few days. Costs in any mentioned are similar to Thailand if not cheaper. But beware of ‘Happy Pizzas’ in Cambodia, it’s not oregano sprinkled on top.
More than 30 days…
2 options.
1) in Oz go to Thai embassy and apply for a 60 days tourist visa, this should be granted easy. you have the option then on arrival to extend that visa for 30 more days at a cost of 1900 baht. that will give you 90 days without having to leave Thailand.
2) get no visa in Oz arrive thailand and recieve a (V.O.A) visa on arrival. ( onward ticket needed) This lets you stay in Thailand for 30 days- you then have to do a Visa run, leaving the country stamp out , entry into new country, return Thailand and you will be given another 30 day VOA.
You can do this for a total of 90 days in any 180 day period.
In my experiance I would go the 60 day tourist visa from embassy, get extention 30 days-then the visa run 3 times and this way you could stay 6 months if you want.
