If you are looking at visitng Thailand then consider the following. If you arrive over a land border crossing into Thailand from Malaysia, Burma, Loas or Cambodia they will only give you 15 days to stay in Thailand. If you arrive and get your visa on arrival at an international airport then you will only get 30 days in Thailand. Consider getting a tourist visa for Thailand as it allows you to stay in Thailand for 60 days. Before the 60 days is complete you can go to Immigration in Thailand and they will extend the visa for you for an additional 30 days for a fee of 1,900 Baht.
There have been many changes in the Thai visa rules over the years and the price of the visas have also gone up. A tourist visa for Thailand now costs US$40 for the 60 day tourist visa. If in doubt consider other visa options. The tourist visa in Thailand does not allow you to work in Thailand. It is only meant for staying in Thailand for a short while. If you are married or looking at starting a business then you need a different visa for this purpose such as a marriage visa for Thailand if you have already gone to register your marriage in Thailand or a business visa for Thailand.
Again check the visa rules and the pupose of your visit to Thailand before you arrive!
